Trends 2008... continued

So here is a few things I have learnt... texture is hip, rock and roll, and it sells.

It is something that us creative folks can never get enough of. From coarse bling-ed glitter (aka Doodlebug Sugared Cardstock) to smooth shimmer (Bazzill Bling) or just leathery (and smelly) Grungeboard... courtesy of Sir Tim.... we love something that we can STROKE. Paper just don't cut it!
So the texture for 2008 (which will not usurp bling; because we can multi-task with texture... we are women after all...) is VELVET.
A few key {trend setting} players are coming out with the flocked velvet (aka damask) effect. Papers, embelishments and more. At Memory Trends there was a few flocked rub-ons (from We R Memory Keepers and 7gypsies noticeably.) This CHA we can see the trend developed carefully and some really clever applications being released.
This trend is just taking off... and I think card makers (not just us photo nutters) will be jumping in with both feet. After all - who can resist a card that oozes strokability?!!
Watch this space... and pull out all those ugly flocked shirts (really, does anyone have them?!) Rip 'em up and get them in your layouts. There will be ways and means to adopt the trend without splashing out - so inventive suggestions on a postcard please (and damask wallpaper has to be included somewhere ;)
