Trend Prediction 2009

I don't have a crystal ball... but what I DO have is some insider knowledge on what is coming... and I can tell you TECHNOLOGY will be dominating the craft headlines in 2009.

If craft seems a far cry from anything remotely techie... then imagine the following scenario. I was at my parents house and thinking I would do a good deed and mow their lawn, I pulled out of their shed something that was conceived in the dark ages of grass cutting. One of those beastly machines that actually required me to break a sweat! I hauled and pushed and took more than a few hours to finish (with tufts still glaring at me) the whole lawn. Luckily the sun was shining and I was happy to use it as my exercise for the week... oh and it earned me 3 White Magnums ;)

With this in mind, I can see why electric mowers were invented. They take the strain and pain out of a necessary evil. Nothing is lost, just TIME CONSUMING BACK ACHE. Same applies when you see some of the tech gadgets that will be hitting craft shelves in '09. Whilst the pleasure of crafting from scratch still is achieved, the time spent fiddling is reduced... with better (no tufts) results.

So... the trend watch for 09 starts here!

I'm going to turn a handle as long as I am able and leave the electric die-cut machines for the impaired and Arthritic. Using my muscles to punch my paper into cute shapes is about the only exercise I get while sitting on my big bottom Scrapbooking... I'm sure you are right, Becks, it IS the trend for '09!

I'm actually quite excited about the new tech waves, as I try to cut corners wherever possible. That way I may actually get reasonably "caught up." Bring it on I say!
