Trends for 2009

You can actually spot trends at this show - not just in the craft industry, but in homeware, technology et al. Looking around Hong Kong and I spotted the enviable Ipod Karaoke... who would not want a machine that you could belt a tune along with? It is going to be the *next* wave of docking station upgrades. Also spotted more technical gadgets in the kitchen... simple tools get a modern twist for convenience and time saving (sound familiar?)

There were some delicious white porcelain table wear... and really cute cake stands (I am a sucker for a cute cake stand!!) Plenty of Christmas 09 decor (lots of traditional Santa's and Snowmen.) It was like a winter wonderland - except the sun was blazing outside ;) Some brilliant packaging ideas... and toys (my kids would have a field day!!)

A few crafty trends I spotted do involve creative use of the crochet trend which is going to be hot next Spring/Summer. Layers, more layers, and even more layers... and speciality finishes (lazer-cut, die-cut, foil, flock and this hybrid glitter epoxy embossing finish - which I think is going to be big news in 09...)
Shanghai has a different feel to Hong Kong... not so hot, incredibly busy (near death taxi experiences) but very interesting. xxx

I know~ I'm a sucker for the cake stands too! I'd like to have one for every occasion! Bday, Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentine's... You name it~ I want one for it. I want, I want, I want. But still must budget wisely in the end. :D

It's crazy isn't it? I remember every car journey was a near death experience whilst over there. It's a great adventure and I just wish I had taken the opportunity to blog my daily finds so I had something to look back on.
