Spotted: Maya Road CHA Summer 08

Spotted: Maya Mists (think Tattered Angels...) but from Maya Road (it is not confusing... honest ;)

Along with this they have scalloped albums, bulk coasters (great for making your own key chain mini albums) as well as accordion albums (chipboard and acrylic) and those essential SHEERS (my fav!!) in a Calendar Album!! I have a feeling I may just drool on the way past this stand... although nothing is available until late September (is that a Christmas Wish List I hear??)

I also think the dino stamps are cute - and after the Archiac line being one of the top selling ranges from BasicGrey this year - I can see why the dino theme is a must have accessory for all those boys with scales and big teeth ;)

Maya Road... they know how to catch your attention!

Spotted: *NEW* Sheer Sheets - 12" x 12" sheet of sheer die cut in 6 patterns. They come in midnight black. They cannot tear or split, and you will be able to use them not just flat but also rolled up... how COOL are they (sort of like the KI Memories Lace Cardstock HERE, HERE... but more durable.) Do you reckon they would make great masks (aka Heidi Swap)??? Very very cool... let's hope the price tag is worth the hype!

CHA - Sneak from Maya Road (4)

Spotted: Printed sheers (look like thick die cut vellum...) Told you about the journaling trend. It is EVERYWHERE. Like it or not, you won't be able to fight it in 2008... resistance is futile. Nothing new (as Gem points out!) but it has an overt presence in 2008 - that seems previously to have been missing... unless you count the 1990s ;)

CHA - Sneak from Maya Road (3)

NEWS: At Maya Road it sounds like the winds of change are blowing in (who isn't feeling those winds at the mo?) They announced that on January 17th we made some cool decisions for maya road for 2008 - more on that soon! (What do you reckon... sold out to a bigger company?)

Spotted: On the Maya Blog - 3 new products!

1. the small chipboard letters - we decided that we needed some smaller one - perfect for layouts where you need a smaller size. they are raw like our other ones. the "day" here is from the jonathan set.

2. the metal flower. seriously, we are in love with these stackable metal flowers . they are from our trinkets collection. and wow, just you wait to see what else is in our trinkets collection (can't say more than that for right now).

3. and finally - can you see the black sheer in the background? this is from our die cut sheer sheet collection. SERIOUS SERIOUS eye candy. trust me. i only have like 2 sheets of prototypes of each style right now in my hands and trust me i guard them closely - LOL! and we are doing them in our midnight black! they have a nice weight to them like our other sheers and but can easily be cut to use as you wish on your projects.

Trend Spotting

Do you reckon it is okay to make a prediction this early before CHA?

Well... I am going to stick my neck out and let you in on the best kept secret trend for 2008. (Oh and to if I am right I get to eat a 6 pack of Cadbury Creme Eggs without any guilt.)
I predict that CLEAR (Acrylic) Albums, Key Chains, Embellishments et al are going to be one of the big stories at CHA 2008.

Sand them, ink them, paint them, give them away, keep them, add them to your home, Kid's Room Nameboards, personalise and mount, frame and protect your photos and artwork... but let's not be fooled; CLEAR is here.

First spotted: adorning the stand of Picture It Pageframers (whose blog I adore; so suggest you immediately-aka-this-very-instant shimmy on down and get spotting some fab design ideas to snaffle.) The trend started to seep into the great unknown at the very last Memory Trends show (when Rusty Pickle also added a line of clear albums.)

Now though, it is set to hit the big time with Design Originals, Maya Road et al all hoisting up their knickers and socks to get in on the act and start mass marketing a plethora {word adoration pause} of shapes, sizes and off-the-floor elements all in acrylic.

NB: The fashion savvy will recognise that Ms. Heidi Swapp has had a range of clear masks and embellishments out for what feels like donkeys... so she should officially be crowned the 'mastermind of clear' (although also gets the boot for not giving us clever wee albums sooner...)

So Trend SPOTTED for 2008...

More Later,
Beck x
P.S - I have seen the new BasicGrey... and it is original and lust-worthy. When I can share, I will ;)

CHA - Sneak from Maya Road (2)
